Talking Billions
Among the podcasts I listen to regularly, Talking Billions hosted by Bogumil Baranowski is one of the more recent additions, although it’s been a good few months now since I discovered it. In that time, it’s quickly become one of my favourites. Episode length isn’t really a concern for me due to listening speed, but at around sixty to ninety minutes each, it’s easy to digest on an ongoing basis. In truth, I often forget about the time altogether once the conversation gets going.
Bogumil brings a sense of calm to every episode, from the tone of his voice to the thoughtful way he guides each discussion. In many ways, the podcast reminds me of Richer, Wiser, Happier by William Green, though with the added benefit of more frequent episodes. The wait for William’s episodes is always worth it but I’ve appreciated having more regular exposure to these types of discussions.
By profession, Bogumil is an investor, manging money for families, and that background perfectly complements the nature of the podcast. There’s a natural emphasis on long term thinking, empathy, and an appreciation for the human side of wealth. Growing it, protecting it, and understanding how it fits into a fulfilling life. I don’t interact with investors day to day to know how common these traits are, but in Bogumil’s case they come through consistently and authentically in every conversation.
Episodes tend to follow a familiar but unforced flow. Discussions usually begin with the guest’s area of expertise, often within investing or business, before gradually moving into broader reflections on life, happiness, and fulfilment.
This isn’t a podcast you come to for quick investing tips or short term trading ideas. Instead, it offers space to slow down and reflect on longer term approaches to wealth and the role it plays in a well lived life. In a world that often prioritises speed, immediacy, and constant action, the calmer and more human centred tone of Talking Billions has been a very welcome addition to my regular listening.
Who’s it for?
Each episode covers finance or investing, so investors will naturally obviously feel at home here. That said, you don’t need to be wealthy or managing a large portfolio to take value from it. Anyone saving, investing, or thinking about how money fits into their future will find useful lessons. Beyond that, the wider reflections on happiness, fulfilment, and perspective make this podcast worthwhile even for those more interested in life than balance sheets.
